Kalama Beach

Yesterday we ventured towards Kailua to visit yet another beach park. This one was kind of set in the middle of a neighborhood, and even had a huge nice house right behind the parking lot. It was quite a hike from the road to the actual beach, including walking across the back lawn of previously mentioned nice house. Poor residents! Anyways, Kenzie was beside herself almost the entire trip- even asking to go home which is pretty uncharacteristic of her once we get settled on the beach. She is getting more and more brave about going towards the water on her own. Part of me is thankful that she has some fear of the ocean because there are pretty mean currents some days! If you look closely you can see Brett off in the distance getting some body surfing in! I am too scared of the jellyfish so I tend to just sit on shore and observe the ocean fun. I'll brave up one of these days but I figure being preggo and around big waves doesn't fair well.

Minor vent- Kenzie has outgrown most of her bathing suits we brought with us with the exception of two that are too big. So, she either has a wedgie the entire time or is constantly pulling up her shoulder straps! It's a lose-lose situation :( Here's hoping our stuff comes soon and I find some bathing suits that were hiding back in our michigan storage unit!

Prepping for TWO

So, I know we still have another 3 months before October comes but it is ALMOST August already! And, so far, Honor has about 3 outfits (matching her big sister of course) and a few onesies. And...THAT's IT! No where to sleep, no way to get home, etc. I cannot wait for our household goods to get here!!! I feel so unprepared right now! Okay, on to the point...I have been researching and researching double strollers for like days on end now and still have not found the perfect one...until TODAY! And, it just happens to be featured in a giveaway so cross your fingers, spin around and do 10 jumping jacks in wishing me luck in winning this amazing double stroller!!! Check it out:

150 Beach Parks- can we see them all??

Wikipedia let me know that there are approx. 150 beach parks on Oahu. So, Brett and I have set out to see them all during our tour here over the next 3 years. I have a list of them, and each weekend we set out to discover a new one. How adventurous! So far we've been to:

1. Waialae Beach Park

2. Waimanalo Beach Park

3. Sandy Beach Park

4. Ft Derussy Beach Park

5. Ko Olina Beach Park
(no pics...booo)

6. Paradise Rock Beach Park- beach located on the north side of base

7. Ft. Hase Beach Park- this is the one just across the street and down a block from our house. It was a pretty cloudy day...I'll have to retake the pic so it looks better!

Can't wait to see the other 143! I'll keep this a running list and try and remember to get pics of each beach so you can see how much they vary from spot to spot! We hope to make it to Kailua Beach Park tomorrow so stay tuned!

Pictures from Paradise!

Here are some great shots of our latest and greatest happenings on the island!

Our usual self portraits...

Kenzie is getting to be quite the photographer. Well, at least my whole face is in the shot!

She has developed some crazy antics here and finds herself quite hilarious

She used to be terrified of the sand, now she will play in it all day!

Some great views of the island

Can't wait to go hiking with Honor in the baby carrier and Kenzie in the backpack!

These rocks were beautiful!

25 week Bellahhhhyyy. Ugh. Is it October yet???

LOVED Sandy Beach! Great waves!

She asked me the other day if she can be a mermaid when she grows up. My answer: "Sure thing!"

Our trips home from the beach usually look like this:

90 Second Catch Up

Since I last blogged (I don't know why I let it go but I guess life gets in the way!) this is what has happened:

1. Brett came home for 10 glorious days! And, I got pregnant.
2. Brett left for MCT in North Carolina for 5 weeks with no phone and no letter contact until the day before graduation
3. Jeff, Sue, Kenzie and I went to see Brett graduate from MCT.
4. Brett stayed at MCT for an extra week and then flew out to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX for his MOS school. His MOS was finally finalized as Aviation Support: Crash Fire Rescue (CFR for short).
5. Kenzie and I packed up the house, along with wonderful help from our amazing family and friends, and moved to Texas. We lived with his grandparents about an hour north of Dallas. Each weekend, Kenzie and I drove about 6 hours each way to visit with Brett.
6. We found out we were having another girl and plan to name her Honor Rose.
7.Kenzie and I packed up our stuff in TX and shipped it off to Michigan to be with our storage unit until the movers ship that all over to HI.
8. Brett graduated from his MOS school. Jeff and Sue flew down to attend graduation!
9. The next day, Brett, Kenzie and I, along with 9 suitcases, 3 carry-ons, a stroller and a car seat, moved to Hawaii.
10. We currently live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchenette hotel suite about 20 minutes away from base. We are eagerly awaiting our house on base, currently #67 on the waiting list! Our car is in transit from TX and should be here within a month.

Phew! That's all, I think! It may have taken you more than 90 seconds to read the catch up but at least you are up to date! I hope to post much more often because I know that family and friends back home are dying to know what we are up to these days.
